Australian Alex gaining experience with LLWR
Alex Borovskis plans to utilise the knowledge he is soaking up at LLWR when he returns home to the nuclear industry in Australia.
Sydney-based Alex, pictured, is spending four months with the ESC team and then returning to ANSTO (Australian Nuclear Science and Technology Organisation) where he is a Plant Engineer.
He said: “I’ve had the opportunity to meet people across LLWR, from Operations, to Engineering to Waste Management Services, and everyone has been very friendly and supportive.
“It’s a great opportunity to see international Best Practice and take that home to Australia. I’m looking to help support the development of the national LLW facility in Australia.
“It is a multi-disciplinary exercise and I’m learning quite a bit, including about Safety Cases,” added Alex, who has visited Sellafield and Dounreay in previous fact-finding visits to the UK.
He has joined a local squash league to keep fit and is also enjoying fell walking.
“I’ve also been taking the chance to jet-set around Europe because it’s accessible compared to when you are based in Sydney,” said Alex, who returns home in September.
ANSTO is one of Australia’s largest public research organisations and an international player in the field of nuclear science and technology.
